Indian fencers win two gold, three silver and four bronze medals at Commonwealth Championship

India continued its impressive medal-winning run at the Commonwealth Fencing Championship in Lagos, Nigeria. After securing 17 medals on the opening day on Monday, Indian fencers added more Medals to the country’s tally. 
 
Karan Singh and Sherjin Shanthimol clinched gold medals for India in the senior men’s events last night. In the men’s Sabre final, Karan Singh staged a remarkable comeback against Australia’s Yoongi Shim. Trailing 7-11, Karan fought back strongly to win the bout 15-12 and claim the gold medal. In the men’s Epee final, Sherjin Shanthimol defeated second-seeded South African fencer Pieter Kruger 15-6 in a comfortable victory to secure the top spot.
 
India also won a bronze medal in the senior men’s Foil event, with Tejas Patil finishing on the podium in a field featuring several renowned international fencers.
 
Indian women fencers put up another dominant performance in the senior women’s Epee event, winning three medals. Tanishka Khatri clinched the gold, while her compatriot Khushi Dabhade took the silver. Prachi Lohan added a bronze medal to India’s tally, sharing the third position with Australia’s Harrison Asley. 
 
In the individual Sabre event, Indian women won three medals. Aakhari secured the silver medal, finishing behind England’s Brierley, while Shruti Joshi and Jefarlin won bronze medals.
