Secretary in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Saurabh Garg today said that the Indian economy continues to perform well despite global headwinds. Speaking on the occasion of National Statistics Day, Mr. Garg highlighted that the country has witnessed a significant expansion in administrative data over the past decade, driven largely by the success of the Digital India initiative.
He noted that the theme for this year’s celebration is Unlocking the Potential of Administrative Data, focuses on exploring how administrative data can be effectively leveraged to support informed and evidence-based decision-making. Mr Garg further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasised the importance of data-driven governance. The Secretary added that to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, policymaking and decision-making must become increasingly focused, precise, and backed by reliable data.
