In FIFA World Cup 2026, Cape Verde held Uruguay to a 2-2 draw in their Group H match in Florida today. Cape Verde took the lead in the 21st minute through Kevin Pina, who scored a stunning direct free kick and registered his country’s first-ever World Cup goal. Uruguay responded with two goals from Maxi Araújo and Agustín Canobbio to go ahead. However, Cape Verde equalised through Hélder Varela, who took advantage of a defensive error to make it 2-2. The result leaves both teams on two points going into the final round of Group H matches.

Earlier, Iran and Belgium played out a goalless draw in their Group G clash in California last night.
