Tripura Congress intensifies organisational rebuilding efforts as newly elected Bishalgarh District President Gopinath Saha takes charge. Party leaders emphasise grassroots strengthening, youth engagement, democratic values, and public outreach campaigns, aiming to revive Congress’s political presence and expand support amid growing concerns over unemployment, inflation, and economic challenges.
Seeking to regain its political relevance after years of organisational challenges and electoral setbacks, the Congress party has stepped up efforts to rebuild its grassroots network and strengthen its presence across Tripura. The renewed initiative forms part of the party’s nationwide organisational restructuring programme spearheaded by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
As part of this extensive restructuring exercise, elections were recently conducted for various organisational posts across different levels of the party. In the latest development, senior Congress leader Gopinath Saha was elected as the District President of Bishalgarh, marking a significant step in the party’s efforts to revitalise its organisational framework in the region.
To celebrate his appointment, a felicitation programme was organised in Bishalgarh on Wednesday. The event witnessed the participation of several prominent Congress leaders, including Joydeb Ray Barman, along with local party functionaries, workers, and supporters. The gathering reflected the party’s determination to rebuild its organisational strength and reconnect with voters at the grassroots level.
Addressing the programme, Congress leaders reiterated the party’s commitment to democratic values, secular principles, and the protection of constitutional institutions. They emphasised that the Congress remains dedicated to safeguarding the interests of ordinary citizens and providing a credible political alternative in the state.
Party leaders expressed confidence that increasing public dissatisfaction over socio-economic issues could create an opportunity for Congress to expand its support base. They argued that concerns related to rising prices, unemployment, and economic hardships faced by farmers, labourers, and other sections of society have generated widespread public frustration.
According to party leaders, the immediate focus will be on strengthening the organisation from the booth level to the district level. Plans are underway to reactivate inactive party workers, attract young people to the organisation, and expand public engagement through issue-based campaigns and mass outreach programmes.
During the event, Congress leaders also criticised several policies of the ruling government, alleging that economic difficulties and employment-related concerns continue to affect large sections of the population. They asserted that the party would actively raise these issues and work alongside citizens in seeking solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, newly elected District President Gopinath Saha said that strengthening the organisation through the active participation of every party worker would remain his foremost priority. He pledged to revitalise the party across both rural and urban areas while ensuring that people’s day-to-day concerns are highlighted through democratic political engagement.
