Opposition parties accused influential mafias of involvement in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak after the exam cancellation. Leaders demanded accountability, judicial investigation, and answers from the BJP-led Centre as lakhs of students and parents faced uncertainty over the medical entrance examination crisis.

Fresh political controversy erupted on Tuesday after several Opposition leaders alleged the involvement of “mafias” and influential individuals in the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, following the cancellation of the national medical entrance examination conducted earlier this month.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination held on May 3 after allegations surfaced that a “guess paper” circulated before the test contained questions closely matching those in the actual examination. The agency confirmed that the examination would be conducted again on fresh dates, which will be announced separately.

The development has triggered nationwide concern among lakhs of medical aspirants and their families, many of whom had spent years preparing for one of India’s most competitive examinations.

Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot questioned the credibility of the examination system and said repeated incidents of paper leaks indicate the existence of organized networks operating behind the scenes.

Speaking to reporters, Pilot said lakhs of students work tirelessly for years while parents spend significant amounts on coaching and preparation. He added that repeated irregularities in major examinations are exposing weaknesses within the system and damaging public trust.

According to Pilot, the similarity between the alleged leaked “guess paper” and the actual examination paper strongly suggests the involvement of organized gangs and influential individuals. He argued that such leaks could not occur without support from powerful people connected to the system.

The Congress leader further stated that accountability must be fixed and officials responsible for conducting the examination should take responsibility if they fail to ensure fairness and transparency. He also appealed to the Central government to initiate a time-bound judicial inquiry into the matter instead of handing the case to investigative agencies alone.

Pilot stressed that an independent judicial probe would help uncover the larger network allegedly operating behind repeated examination leaks across the country.

Investigators in Rajasthan are currently probing allegations that a leaked “guess paper” circulated before the exam contained questions that closely resembled those in the actual NEET-UG question paper. Authorities are examining whether the leak originated from organized groups involved in examination fraud.

Meanwhile, Saurabh Bharadwaj of the Aam Aadmi Party claimed that the reported leak could be only one among several undisclosed cases. He warned that many incidents of examination malpractice may still remain hidden from the public.

Bharadwaj also criticized the handling of previous controversies linked to the NEET examination process. Referring to earlier irregularity allegations, he said decisions taken in the past had affected the future of lakhs of students who aspire to pursue medical education.

Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy expressed concern that repeated controversies surrounding national-level examinations could severely damage public trust in the National Testing Agency. He said confidence in examination institutions is essential for maintaining the integrity of the education system.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi also raised concerns over the emotional and financial burden placed on students and their families. He questioned how students who had prepared sincerely for years would cope with the cancellation of the examination after investing substantial time and money in coaching and preparation.

Owaisi said the BJP-led Central government must answer the concerns of students and parents who are facing uncertainty because of the alleged irregularities. He emphasized that young aspirants should not suffer due to failures in the examination process.

The cancellation of the NEET-UG examination has once again intensified the debate over examination security and transparency in India. Social media platforms witnessed widespread reactions from students demanding strict action against those responsible for the alleged leak.

Education experts believe the controversy could further increase pressure on the NTA to introduce stronger security measures, digital monitoring systems, and stricter oversight mechanisms during national-level examinations.

For many students, however, the immediate concern remains the uncertainty surrounding the fresh examination schedule and the emotional stress caused by the cancellation. Several aspirants expressed disappointment, saying months and years of preparation had been disrupted because of alleged corruption and malpractice.

As political attacks intensify and investigations continue, the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy is expected to remain a major national issue in the coming weeks, with mounting demands for accountability, transparency, and reforms in the country’s examination system.
