FIFA President Gianni Infantino today praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s passion for sports. He shared a photograph of the Prime Minister playing football with children in Gangtok. The FIFA chief, known for his push to expand the game’s footprint in South Asia, shared the image on his social media post with the caption, Football truly unites the world.

This isn’t the first time the FIFA president has acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s influence. The two have met on several occasions on international forums. In December 2018 at the G-20 summit in Argentina, FIFA chief gifted Prime Minister Modi a personalised football jersey with his name on its back. Yesterday, the Prime Minister played football with the young players in Gangtok, Sikkim, calling it a lovely morning and an energising session.
