International Chess Federation today joined the International World Games Association (IWGA) at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
The decision raises IWGA membership to 40 federations and expands the range of sports in the World Games movement. IWGA CEO Joachim Gossow welcomed the move, citing chess’s global popularity and established structure.
