Delhi Capitals pacer Lungi Ngidi was taken off the field in an ambulance after suffering a head injury during the IPL match against Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi today. He has been taken to Max Hospital, Pusa Road, for further medical examination.
The incident occurred on the third ball of the second over when Ngidi attempted to take a catch off Axar Patel’s bowling. He misjudged the ball while airborne, which went past his outstretched hand. He then landed heavily on his back, with the back of his head hitting the ground, leaving him in visible pain.
Ngidi was seen responding to medical staff as players, including Tristan Stubbs and David Miller, along with Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting and Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani, came to check on him. He was later stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital for treatment.
