A group of pilgrims from Tripura is set to begin their journey to Kolkata on Monday as part of their preparations for the annual Haj pilgrimage. The initiative has been facilitated by the state’s Minority Welfare Department in coordination with the Tripura State Haj Committee, ensuring smooth transit arrangements for the pilgrims.

A total of 74 individuals, including 55 men and 19 women, are part of this year’s group. They will first travel to Kolkata, from where they will continue their journey to Saudi Arabia to perform the sacred pilgrimage. Authorities have emphasized that all necessary logistical and administrative preparations have been completed to make the journey safe and comfortable.

Ahead of their departure, a ceremonial programme was held at the Agartala Haj House on Sunday. The event served as an occasion to offer prayers, extend greetings, and wish the pilgrims a successful and spiritually fulfilling journey. Several dignitaries attended the programme, including Tripura Minority Corporation Chairman Jasim Uddin and Minority Waqf Board Chairman Mobsor Ali.

Officials highlighted that special care has been taken to ensure that pilgrims face minimal inconvenience during their transit to Kolkata. Transport arrangements, documentation processes, and coordination with relevant authorities have been streamlined as part of the initiative.
