In Badminton, PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy, and Ayush Shetty have advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the Badminton Asia Championships 2026 in Ningbo, China, today. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu defeated Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching in a hard-fought match with a score of 15-21, 21-11, 21-19. In the men’s singles category, HS Prannoy recorded secured a win, beating Vietnam’s Nguyen Hai Dang 24-22, 21-12, to set up a second-round clash against China’s Weng Hong Yang. Ayush Shetty grabbed everyone’s attention with his impressive performance.
He reached the pre-quarterfinals by defeating China’s World No. 7, Li Shi Feng, in straight games, 21-13, 21-16. Ayush will take on Chi Yu Jen of Chinese Taipei in the round of 16. Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen suffered a defeat in straight games at the hands of Hong Kong’s Lee Cheuk Yiu, losing 12-21, 19-21. Kidambi Srikanth was also knocked out of the tournament after losing to Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew. In the women’s singles category, India’s Malvika Bansod and Tanvi Sharma were eliminated from the tournament after losing their respective matches.
