TRLM unveils 2026-27 rural entrepreneurship plan focusing on women-led enterprises, bamboo clusters, SVEP startups, and infrastructure growth, aiming to transform non-farm rural economy and generate sustainable livelihoods across the state.

The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has unveiled an ambitious and wide-ranging action plan for the financial year 2026–27, aiming to transform the rural non-farm sector into a robust engine of economic growth. With a sharp focus on women-led enterprises, grassroots innovation, and infrastructure development, the initiative is poised to reshape livelihood opportunities across rural Tripura.

At the core of this strategy lies the flagship “Crorepati Didi” initiative, which seeks to empower women entrepreneurs to scale their businesses into high-value enterprises. In a significant move, TRLM has partnered with the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta to mentor 150 high-potential rural enterprises. A dedicated fund of Rs 568 lakh has been earmarked to provide financial and technical support, enabling women entrepreneurs to expand operations and access larger markets.

The plan also emphasizes expanding entrepreneurship at the grassroots level through the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) and the Micro Enterprise Development (MED) scheme. Under SVEP, TRLM aims to establish 6,187 new rural enterprises, while the MED scheme will train 1,580 first-generation entrepreneurs, many of whom are expected to emerge from self-help groups and marginalized communities.

To strengthen business incubation and support systems, TRLM will set up three One Stop Facilities (OSFs) across 12 blocks. These centers are expected to provide comprehensive services, including training, financial guidance, and market linkage support, benefiting approximately 1,350 aspiring entrepreneurs.

In the collective enterprise sector, the mission plans to establish 100 new Non-Farm Clusters (NFCs) with an investment of Rs 700 lakh. These clusters will focus on enhancing production efficiency and enabling collective marketing strategies. Additionally, a substantial Rs 1,000 lakh has been allocated for developing integrated value chain infrastructure, particularly in bamboo and handloom processing sectors. Bamboo-based clusters, in particular, will receive special attention, reflecting Tripura’s rich natural resources and traditional craftsmanship.

The infrastructure push extends further into key livelihood areas. TRLM has earmarked Rs 800 lakh for community-based tourism initiatives, aiming to promote rural tourism and create alternative income streams. Another Rs 500 lakh will be used to strengthen existing model NFCs, while Rs 180 lakh has been allocated for establishing district-level food hubs to enhance local processing and value addition.

Transport and logistics—often a bottleneck for rural entrepreneurs—are also being addressed. Under Phase III of the Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY), 30 new community-managed vehicles will be deployed across 15 blocks. These vehicles will facilitate better connectivity and improve the supply chain for products developed by self-help groups, particularly benefiting women entrepreneurs.

Officials highlighted that the comprehensive plan reflects TRLM’s long-term vision to convert grassroots ventures into sustainable, income-generating enterprises. By combining financial investment, institutional mentoring, infrastructure creation, and market access, the mission aims to build a resilient rural economy driven by innovation and inclusivity.

With its multi-pronged strategy, TRLM is positioning rural Tripura as a dynamic hub for non-farm economic activities. If successfully implemented, the 2026–27 action plan could significantly enhance income levels, generate employment, and empower thousands of rural households—marking a transformative step toward inclusive and sustainable development.
