Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Brijesh Pandey reviews Dharmanagar by-poll preparedness, focusing on security, polling arrangements, and transparency. Over 46,000 voters to participate as North Tripura administration ensures smooth, fair, and environmentally responsible election process.

In a  step ahead of the upcoming by-election to the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency in North Tripura district, Chief Electoral Officer Brijesh Pandey on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive review meeting to assess the level of preparedness for the crucial electoral exercise.

The meeting focused on evaluating multiple aspects of election readiness, including polling procedures, security arrangements, law and order management, and overall administrative coordination. Senior officials engaged in detailed deliberations and were issued necessary guidelines to ensure that the by-election is conducted in a free, fair, and smooth manner.

Among those present were Additional Chief Electoral Officer Ushajan Mog, Police Observer Sitesh Bino, Additional Director General of Police (AP) G. S. Rao, District Magistrate and District Election Officer of North Tripura Chandni Chandran, and District Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, along with other senior administrative officials.

Following the review meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer carried out an on-ground inspection of critical election infrastructure. He visited the strong room at Dharmanagar Government Girls’ School to assess security measures and ensure proper safeguarding of election materials. Additionally, several polling stations across the constituency were inspected to verify preparedness at the grassroots level.

During his visit, Pandey emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency, impartiality, and peace throughout the election process. He directed officials to strictly adhere to election guidelines and ensure that voters can exercise their democratic rights without any hindrance.

According to the district administration, preparations for the by-election are nearing completion, with all necessary measures being put in place to facilitate a smooth and hassle-free voting experience for the electorate.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate and District Election Officer Chandni Chandran revealed key electoral statistics during a press conference held earlier. A total of 46,143 voters have been enrolled in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency. Of these, 23,763 are women and 22,380 are men, reflecting a balanced voter demographic.

To accommodate voters, the administration has established 55 polling stations across the constituency, including 32 in urban areas and 23 in rural regions. In terms of administrative deployment, 12 sector civil officers have been appointed, with an additional four officers kept in reserve to handle any contingencies.

Special attention has also been given to senior citizens, with 258 voters identified as being above 85 years of age. In a progressive initiative aimed at promoting women’s participation, 11 polling stations will be managed entirely by women polling personnel, showcasing a commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.

In line with environmental sustainability goals, authorities have also decided to implement a “green protocol” during the election. This includes replacing traditional flex materials with cloth-based alternatives to reduce environmental impact.
