Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha prioritises welfare and development as Assembly session begins, highlighting people-centric policies, inclusive governance and upcoming budget focused on growth, infrastructure and social welfare for citizens across the state.
Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday placed welfare and development at the centre of his government’s policy framework as the new session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly commenced. The Chief Minister emphasised that the administration remains firmly committed to people-centric governance and inclusive growth across the state.
Speaking to reporters after the address delivered by Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, Dr. Saha said the speech highlighted the achievements of the government during the past year while outlining a clear roadmap for the future. According to him, the upcoming budget will prioritise welfare initiatives and development projects aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens in both urban and rural regions.
“The budget is essentially for the people and their overall welfare. The coming year will focus on how resources are spent, what type of development works are undertaken, and how effectively benefits reach the people,” the Chief Minister said. He added that once the budget is formally presented in the Assembly, it will clearly reflect the government’s commitment to social welfare and balanced development.
Dr. Saha noted that the government intends to strengthen welfare programmes that address healthcare, education, rural development, infrastructure expansion and employment generation. He said the administration will continue to pursue policies designed to ensure that economic growth translates into tangible benefits for every section of society.
The Chief Minister also welcomed the Governor’s decision to deliver his address in multiple languages. The speech began in Kokborok before continuing in Bengali and English, which Dr. Saha described as a reflection of the cultural diversity and unity of the state.
“It symbolises unity in diversity and represents the inclusive spirit of our state. It was encouraging to see the Governor acknowledge different linguistic communities through his address,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s performance over the past year, Dr. Saha said the Governor’s speech presented only the key highlights of various developmental achievements. Detailed discussions and debates on the policies, programmes and governance issues will take place during the ongoing Assembly session.
The Chief Minister further stressed that the Assembly session would provide a democratic platform for both treasury and opposition benches to deliberate on important issues affecting the people of the state. He expressed confidence that constructive discussions would help strengthen governance and ensure better implementation of development initiatives.
Meanwhile, Dr. Saha also called upon legislators to extend their support to MLA Rampada Jamatia, who has been elected as the new Speaker of the Assembly. The Chief Minister said cooperation among lawmakers is essential for the smooth functioning of the House and for addressing the concerns of citizens effectively.
