Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended warm birthday greetings to Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, wishing him good health and a long life. The Prime Minister conveyed his message through a post on X, setting off a wave of congratulatory messages from senior Union ministers and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“Best wishes to Mizoram CM Pu Lalduhoma on his birthday. Praying for his long life and good health,” PM Modi posted on X, underscoring the cordial political atmosphere between the Centre and the northeastern state.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his greetings on the social media platform, stating, “Birthday greetings to Mizoram Chief Minister Shri Lalduhoma Ji. Wishing you good health and strength to continue serving the people of Mizoram.” His message emphasized continued cooperation and development efforts in the region.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia echoed similar sentiments, posting, “Warm birthday greetings to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Shri Lalduhoma Ji. May you be blessed with good health and continued strength in your dedicated service to the people of Mizoram.”
BJP MP Sambit Patra also extended his wishes, invoking blessings for the Chief Minister’s continued service and leadership. The outpouring of greetings from prominent national leaders reflects Lalduhoma’s growing prominence in national political discourse, especially following his party’s decisive mandate in the 2023 Assembly elections.
A former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Lalduhoma led the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) to a landslide victory in the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections. He was sworn in as Chief Minister on December 8, 2023, marking a significant political shift in the state’s governance.
The birthday greetings come at a time when Lalduhoma’s administration is intensifying its focus on infrastructure development and regional connectivity. Recently, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Lengtekai bridge over the Tlawng River, a strategic infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between Aizawl, the state’s lone airport at Lengpui Airport, and the Mamit district bordering Tripura.
Officially named the Faith Bridge, the project was constructed with funding from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways at a cost of Rs 43.83 crore. The 100-metre-long bridge, measuring 7.5 metres in width with 1.5-metre footpaths on both sides, is engineered to carry loads of up to 385 metric tonnes. Officials believe the bridge will significantly enhance transport safety, improve vehicular capacity, and facilitate smoother movement of goods and passengers.
The Faith Bridge is expected to serve as a vital link in Mizoram’s infrastructure network, particularly in strengthening connectivity to the airport and boosting trade and tourism potential. Improved road infrastructure is seen as crucial for the state’s economic growth, given its hilly terrain and strategic location in the Northeast.
Political observers note that the Centre’s public acknowledgment of Lalduhoma’s leadership on his birthday signals continued collaboration between the state and the Union government. With infrastructure, connectivity, and economic development high on the agenda, Mizoram’s governance trajectory appears focused on long-term growth and integration with national development initiatives.
