Agartala City Hospital to open within a month, confirms Mayor Dipak Majumder after inspection. The modern AMC healthcare facility at Jackson Gate will boost urban medical services with essential infrastructure, advanced equipment, and improved public healthcare access in Tripura.
Agartala is set to receive a major boost to its public healthcare infrastructure as the much-anticipated City Hospital under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is expected to become operational within the next month. The announcement was made by Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder on Thursday following an inspection visit to the upcoming facility at Jackson Gate.
Accompanied by AMC Commissioner Saju Wahid and senior municipal officials, the Mayor reviewed the progress of construction and assessed the final stages of development work. Officials confirmed that the project is nearing completion, with finishing touches and essential installations being expedited to meet the proposed deadline.
Speaking to media representatives after the inspection, Majumder expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and reiterated the civic body’s commitment to strengthening urban healthcare services. “The hospital will be equipped with all essential facilities and developed on the lines of a modern medical centre. We are coordinating closely with the Health Department to ensure everything is fully prepared before its formal inauguration,” he stated.
The new City Hospital is expected to significantly enhance access to quality healthcare for residents of Agartala and nearby areas. Once operational, it will provide outpatient services, emergency care, diagnostic facilities, and other critical medical support under one roof. Civic officials indicated that advanced medical equipment and adequate staffing arrangements are being planned in collaboration with the state Health Department.
The establishment of the hospital comes at a crucial time when urban healthcare infrastructure requires expansion to meet rising demand. With Agartala’s growing population and increasing healthcare needs, the facility is anticipated to reduce patient load on existing government hospitals and improve service delivery standards.
Municipal authorities emphasized that the project reflects the AMC’s broader vision of inclusive urban development, focusing on healthcare accessibility and improved public services. The civic body has reportedly prioritized timely completion and operational readiness to avoid delays in public access.
