Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reiterates strong commitment to empowering Janajati communities through Mukhyamantri Janajati Vikas Yojana, providing Rs. 25,000 financial aid to 9,779 beneficiaries and accelerating inclusive socio-economic development across tribal areas.

Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to the empowerment and comprehensive development of Janajati communities, stating that the vision of “Ek Tripura, Sreshtha Tripura” cannot be achieved without the real progress of tribal brothers and sisters.

Addressing the Mukhyamantri Janajati Vikas Yojana (MJVY) and financial assistance distribution programme at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister emphasized that the overall progress of Tripura hinges on improving the socio-economic conditions of Janajati villages.

“It is not possible to build Ek Tripura, Sreshtha Tripura without the real development of our Janajati brothers and sisters. The key to the state’s holistic progress lies in strengthening the socio-economic foundation of tribal communities,” Dr. Saha said.

Highlighting the government’s focused initiatives, the Chief Minister noted that the Mukhyamantri Janajati Vikas Yojana was launched in the financial year 2023–24 with the objective of enhancing self-reliance among Janajati families. The scheme aims to create sustainable income opportunities by encouraging livelihood activities such as animal husbandry and small-scale entrepreneurship.

Under the scheme, a one-time financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 is being provided to each eligible family. So far, 9,779 Janajati beneficiaries have received this financial support, marking a significant step toward strengthening economic stability in tribal households.

Dr. Saha said the present government is committed to ensuring that development benefits reach the last person in society. “We are not merely making promises. The people of Tripura have seen the difference. Our government believes in delivering results through action,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the support of the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that both the Centre and the state are working in coordination to uplift Janajati communities across the state.

Beyond economic measures, Dr. Saha underlined the importance of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and identity of the Janajati people. He said the government is implementing various initiatives aimed at protecting indigenous customs while integrating development with dignity and respect.

“A significant portion of both state and central development budgets is being directed toward the development of Janajati areas. Our goal is not just economic growth, but inclusive growth that enhances living standards and restores pride among tribal communities,” he added.

The Mukhyamantri Janajati Vikas Yojana is being seen as a transformative initiative aimed at bridging developmental gaps and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach marginalized sections effectively. With targeted financial assistance and livelihood support, the state government aims to create long-term economic resilience and social empowerment in tribal regions.
