Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in Agartala on February 20. The high-level Official Language conference will bring together central officials and political leaders amid key BJP-TMP discussions in Tripura.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to attend the Joint Regional Official Language Conference — the Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan — in Agartala on February 20, marking a significant administrative and political event for the region. The high-profile conference will bring together senior officials and dignitaries from the eastern, northeastern, and northern parts of the country.
The event is being organized by the Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It will be hosted at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre, located on the outskirts of Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.
Chief Minister Manik Saha confirmed Shah’s participation while speaking to the media on the sidelines of a recent event. According to official sources, the Sammelan will focus on strengthening the implementation of the Official Language policy across government institutions and enhancing coordination among various departments.
Senior representatives from central government offices, public sector undertakings, nationalized banks, and Town Official Language Implementation Committees (TOLICs) are expected to participate in large numbers. The conference aims to review progress in the use of Hindi for official purposes, share best practices, and encourage innovation in language implementation mechanisms.
To make the event more impactful, organizers have planned a special exhibition highlighting outstanding work carried out by different organizations in promoting and implementing Official Language policies. Participating institutions have been asked to submit details of innovative initiatives and noteworthy contributions, which will be showcased through dedicated stalls at the venue.
Beyond the administrative agenda, the visit is also politically significant. Sources from the Bharatiya Janata Party indicated that Shah is likely to hold strategic meetings with Chief Minister Manik Saha and other senior party leaders to discuss organizational and political matters concerning the state.
The visit comes at a time when differences have surfaced between the BJP and its ally, the Tipra Motha Party. Political observers believe that Shah’s presence could pave the way for dialogue aimed at resolving outstanding issues between the alliance partners. The Union Home Minister is also expected to meet TMP leaders, including party supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, to address concerns and explore possibilities for strengthening cooperation.
