he Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with logistics division of DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India will organise the Northeast Logistic Conclave on 6th December 2022, in Guwahati, Assam.
Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Government India, Mr Bimal Borah, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Commerce and Enterprises, Government of Assam, Ms Santana Chakma, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Commerce, Social Welfare and Social Education, Government of Tripura, Smt. Nemcha Kipgen, Hon’ble Minister for Textiles, Commerce & Industry, Government of Manipur and Mr R Dinesh, President Designate, CII & Executive Vice Chairman, TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd will grace the inaugural session.
Senior officials from Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Eight North East State Governments would participate in the programme.
Programme will have participation of Industry members from various segments of Logistics sector including Air Freight, Cargo, Transportation Services, Cold Chain Logistics, Commercial Real Estate, Construction Equipment, Containers, Freight Forwarders, Finance,Infrastructure, IT, Logistics Services, Material Handling Equipment, Ports and Shipping, Supply Chain Logistics and Warehouse & Distribution and user Industries.
India’s North Eastern Region is expected to be a key beneficiary of the PM Gati Shakti initiative. For seamless logistics infrastructure creation in the region, there is a need for effective coordination among various logistics related ministries to realize the synergies. seamless logistics infrastructure would address the pace of development in the Northeast region. While the PM GatiShakti will help address the planning of the infrastructure, there is a need for effective coordination among various logistics related ministries and North Eastern States to realize synergies.
North East Logistics Conclave is being organised with an objective of bringing all stakeholders at the highest level, on one platform to look for avenues to take forward NE development agenda, identify suitable logistics and supply chain projects for the short, medium and long term, as also connectivity with neighbouring stakeholder countries, to create logistics capitals in the Northeast and showcase opportunities to collaborate.
This conclave would be an opportunity for the governments to hear from the private sector on how developments in the logistics and infrastructure sector in the region can be fast-tracked with industry participation, and industry to understand the governmental outlook and roadmap for the region in pushing the logistics and Prime Minister Gati Shakti programme for strengthening infrastructure delivery in the region and drive its future growth.
