The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, and South Interior Karnataka over the next two days. Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to receive heavy rainfall today. The Met department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in these states today. IMD also said that strong surface winds are expected at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep today.
Additionally, the weather agency said that fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is very likely over most parts of the country, except the plains of Northwest India, where isolated to scattered rainfall is expected.
