At least 18 rescue teams had been deployed across the worst-hit regions of West Tripura district to evacuate residents stranded by rising water levels.

The heavy downpour, which began late Saturday evening, had inundated several low-lying areas, creating a serious challenge for the local administration and disaster response forces. In a detailed post on social media, Deb informed citizens that he was in constant touch with the state government and emergency agencies to monitor the unfolding situation. He emphasized that rescue efforts were being coordinated swiftly and efficiently to ensure the safety of those affected.

“In view of the heavy rainfall across various parts of the state and the flood-like situation in some areas, I have been in continuous communication with the state government,” Deb wrote. “In West Tripura district alone, 18 rescue teams have been deployed. These include three specialized teams from the State and National Disaster Response Forces (SDRF/NDRF), two from Assam Rifles, and two teams from the Agartala Municipal Corporation. Fire Services personnel, Scouts and Guides, Civil Volunteers, and NCC Cadets have also joined the efforts.”

Flood Relief Columns of Assam Rifles were deployed immediately in collaboration with the West Tripura District Disaster Management Team.

For the rapid mobilization and dedicated efforts of the personnel involved, 67 civilians — including women and children — were safely rescued from submerged localities. The operation underscored the Assam Rifles’ steadfast commitment to humanitarian service and their effective coordination with the civil administration during natural disasters.
