India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant’ underway in Ulaanbaatar –

Must Read

The 17th edition of the India-Mongolia joint military exercise – Nomadic Elephant is underway at the Special Forces training centre at Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.

This edition of the exercise, which is scheduled to run from 31st May to 13th June, is set to include an expanded range of activities that reflect the growing defence cooperation between India and Mongolia.

The opening ceremony was graced by key dignitaries, including India’s Ambassador to Mongolia, Atul Malhari Gotsurve, and Major General Lkhagvasuren Ganselem from the Mongolian side.

Both dignitaries conveyed their best wishes to the participating troops, expressing hope that the exercise would foster greater cooperation and mutual understanding between the two nations’ armed forces. They further emphasised that this exercise will not only enhance the operational readiness of both armies but also contribute to strengthening the enduring India-Mongolia defence relationship.

The joint drills will involve counter-terrorism operations in semi-mountainous terrain, a critical area of operational focus given the contemporary security landscape. The troops will also rehearse activities conducted during United Nations peacekeeping operations, simulating real-world situations where multinational forces must collaborate effectively in complex environments.
