 Even as Covid surge kep its ominous rise steady infecting as many as 260 new patients across the state, the health department succeeded in administering a total of 1,60,183 eligible adults precautionary doses of Covid vax so far.

The official report said, 1,61,710 doses were available in Tripura as on July 15.
According to officials in Tripura, the Covid vaccination began on January 16, last year and 55,25,980 vaccinations had been done in the state– 28,95,610 people received the first shot, 24,70,187 people received the second dose. The figure also included 1,60,183 Precaution Doses.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday launched “Covid Vaccine Amrit Mahotsav”, a 75-day campaign for administering free precautionary doses for 18-59 age groups.

In the meantime, the state recorded 260  more Covid  positive on Saturday.
Now the total figure of the active cases crossed 1000-mark, an official report said.
Official records said, out of 2380 samples tested, Covid infection was found in samples of 260 persons in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning. The positivity rate stood at 10.92 percent.
West Tripura district continued to be the most susceptible with maximum number of cases and experts apprehend that if the trend remained unabated then the district would soon turn Covid hotspot.
An official said, the Covid positivity cases are going up as the number of sample testing is increasing. The Health department is reportedly contemplating a plan to start mass testing with an aim to break the transmission chain of Coronavirus.

Menawhile Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stressed upon the need of health staff and patient relationship for extension of better healthcare facilities. The Chief Minister who himself is an eminent maxillofacial surgeon called upon the people to extend cooperation to the health service officials and employees so that they could deliver better services.
“Without cooperation from people, improvement of healthcare services is not possible, said Dr.Saha while inaugurating two new healthcare facilities in Sepahijala district.
He inaugurated the newly-constructed buildings of Boxonagar Community Health Centre and Matinagar Primary Health Centre.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, chairman of Tripura Haj committee Jashimuddin, Director of Health and Family Welfare department Dr. Radha Debbarma, chairman of Boxonagar Panchayat Samity Sanjay Sarkar and others.
