Covid infection in Tripura shot up to 231 despite government brining into force the Covid protocols . The positivity rate is 10.64 per cent.
The figure 231 was recorded on Friday the day free Covid vaccination for the adults was launched in about 1,400 Covid vaccination centres in the state. Approximately about 19 lakh 93 thousand,788 adults will be given the dose of Covid booster jab. The state currently has 1 lakh 15 thousand 390 doses of Covid vaccines in stock.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha called upon the people to comply follow Covid appropriate behaviour.
On Friday 2161 samples were tested Of the 231 samples that tested positive—40 were in RTPCR and 191 were in Rapid Antigen Tests.
Out of the total 231 positive cases, West Tripura district contributed 142 cases alone followed by 38 in Sepahijala, 20 in Gomati, 11 in South Tripura, 13 in North Tripura, one in Khowai, two in Dhalai and four cases in Unakoti district.
The active case count has now increased to 808 while seven Covid-infected persons have recovered on Friday.
In the meantime Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the “Covid Vaccine Amrit Mahotsav” at IGM Hospital Agartala on Friday where MLA Dr Dilip Das was also present. The vaccination drive would be a 75-day affair when free Covid-19 precautionary doses for 18-59 age groups will be provided at all the government vaccination centres.
Dr Manik Saha said as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav program this special covid vaccination drive was launched as part of the nationwide program. He thanked PM Narendra Modi for the initiative.
When asked about rising Covid cases in the state, the Chief Minister said, the health department authorities and concerned administration are constantly monitoring the situation and are ready to cope with any situation. So far 55 lakh 16 thousand 22 beneficiaries have been vaccinated.
