Union Minister inaugurated a 40,000 TLPD milk plant, boosting dairy and fisheries self-sufficiency. Union Minister assures full central support to empower local farmers.
Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, along with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and Minister of State SP Singh Baghel, inaugurated a state-of-the-art 40,000 TLPD (Thousand Litres Per Day) milk processing plant on Saturday. The plant, located in Bamutia, West Tripura, is set to play a crucial role in transforming the local dairy sector and enhancing the rural economy.
The new facility is expected to decrease Tripura’s reliance on imported milk and strengthen the state’s dairy infrastructure. It also aims to empower local farmers and producers by offering a more robust market for their products. This is seen as an essential step in uplifting the rural economy of the state.
During the inauguration, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (also known as Lalan Singh) highlighted the Indian government’s vision of making Tripura self-sufficient in milk and fish production. He expressed confidence in the state’s potential to achieve this goal, stating, “The Government of India believes Tripura has the resources and capability to become self-reliant in dairy and fisheries.”
Minister Singh also assured the Chief Minister of the Centre’s full support in realizing these aspirations. He announced plans for a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries to visit Tripura in June. The visit will focus on creating a comprehensive roadmap for the state’s self-sufficiency in milk and fish production, with involvement from officials of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).
Singh further praised the efforts of the Tripura government, particularly under Chief Minister Manik Saha’s leadership, emphasizing the state’s focus on empowering farmers in milk and fish production. “This empowerment will contribute significantly to Tripura’s economic growth,” he noted.
Ratan Ghosh, Chairman of the Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd, expressed his satisfaction with the progress under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The Central government has allocated Rs 19.38 crore for this project, and the state government has contributed Rs 2 crore. This project will directly benefit farmers throughout the state,” he said.
The inauguration of the milk plant marks a turning point in Tripura’s dairy industry, with the promise of increased local production, better infrastructure, and greater economic opportunities for farmers.
