Oposition CPM  complained of major irregularities in implementation of the centrally sponsored MGNREGA scheme.

Former Chief Minister and Opposition Leader Manik Sarkar in a press conference alleged that the ‘Janasampark’ campaign of the party that covered all the districts, subdivisions and blocks-except one- brought to fore in details about thee MGNREGA wrongdoing..

“BJP government is depriving the people, especially the poor section across the state from work under the scheme of MGNREGA”, Sarkar said as he was flanked by his senior party coleagues and former ministers.

“We could learn from the job card holders moving across the state that they are being provided with only 30-35 mandays under REGA, whereas the government here has been sending reports to Delhi underlining the generation of 80-85 mandays. People expressing their anger over the role of government, complained that the genuine beneficiaries were not getting work. In fact, it was the BJP Mandals which are functioning in the Gram Panchayat and Village Committees are including 30-35 names of their choices on an average in the scheme,” Sarkar alleged.

He said, “The people who are working tirelessly under the scheme to create resources are deprived of their minimum wages and are receiving on an average of only Rs. 120-Rs.130, whereas the people who are not working practically are withdrawing wages. In addition to this it was also alleged that machines are being used in REGA work, which is illegal.”

“We could learn that the same situation is going on in TUEP scheme and most importantly, according to the people other than REGA and TUEP, government had stopped all kinds of works under the various line departments, as a result people are reeling under acute crisis of work,” Sarkar alleged, adding that government should ensure restoration of livelihood of the poor section of the people in the state.

Sarkar also alleged of the deteriorated situation of road connectivity in various parts of the state. “During my tour to different sub-divisions, I could practically see the dilapidated conditions of the roads. No new roads have been constructed so far. The villagers complained that they are facing serious hurdles travelling through these roads and most importantly they are facing acute difficulties in carrying patients to the hospitals.”

Sarkar made series of allegations and held the government responsible to state that the state is reeling under serious conditions, where villagers are deprived at large.
