Both ruling BJP and Opposition Congress on Monday took to road separately with thousands of party followers as their candidates marched to the Returning officers to submit nominations for the by polls.

Monday was the last date for filing nominations for the ensuing by polls.

Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who arrived Agartala only on Monday morning accompanied Dr Manik Saha , the incumbent Chief Minister on his way to the Returning officer for 8 Bordowali seat. Senior other leaders like Ratan Lal Nath, Minister Ramprasad Paul, Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Chief whip Kalyani Roy, Tea Development Corporation chairman Santosh Saha, BJP in charge Vinog Sonkar et al also accompanied Dr Saha. Former Chief Minister’s wife Niti Deb who also came from Delhi with Biplab Deb joined the procession.

On the other hand Dr Ashok Sinha who stood for the BJP in 6 Agartala constituency walked down to the Returning Officer Dr Sailesh Yadav’s office in an impressive rally with Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarma, ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Janajati Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia and other leaders in attendance.

Soon after his nomination Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha  and also former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb went Jubrajnagar -which is also going to by polls to accompany BJP nominee Malina Debnath.  

Swapna Das Paul who is contesting the June 23 bypolls in Tripura on the BJP ticket from 46- Surma also submitted nomination papers in Kamalpur today. She was accompanied by Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Minister Manoj Kumar Deb and other leaders were also present during nomination submission by Debnath.
