Even as the road and rail communications between Tripura with other parts of the country got severely disrupted in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya due to landslips and flood in the wake of incessant rains serious fuel crisis looms large over the state. Going by the present condition of the roads it is likely that the transportation of fuel and other goods to Tripura may not take place in  next few days. While the District Magistrates across the state warned the unscrupulous business not to hoard goods or raise price of the commodities taking advantage of the situation, the state government has also imposed restrictions on the sale of petrol and diesel

In an attempt to meet the situation and preempt a petrol/diesel crisis in the State, Additional Secretary to the state government Tapan Kumar Das issued a notification on Tuesday and imposed restrictions on the sale of such products for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers.

As per the notification, outlets will be allowed to sell petrol/diesel to two-wheelers of maximum Rs 200 per vehicle while for three wheelers it has been fixed at Rs 300 per vehicle and Rs 1000 per vehicle respectively. The restriction has come into effect from May 17 and will continue until further order.

Moreover, during the period of such restrictions, outlets are strictly prohibited to sell petrol and diesel to their consumers in containers of any form.
