Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman on Tuesday slammed the BJP government at the centre over privatisation of the education sector and urged upon the students’ body in Tripura to protest united against it.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday morning Roy Barman opposed the recently announced Common University Entrance Tests for students getting admission in general degree colleges in the state.

Barman said, “The BJP government is intended to deprive the local students here in our state and create scope for the outsiders through the recently announced common entrance tests for students getting admission to the general degree colleges after the higher secondary from next academic session.”

“The common university entrance test is a clear conspiracy of the BJP government against the burden of employment,” Barman said, adding that the government is restricting the students from achieving higher education.

He continued slamming the government in Tripura and alleged, “The government is in an attempt to privatise the entire education sector of the state by setting up private colleges, where the guardians from rural pockets of the state mainly, will not be able to afford in those colleges as the fee structure is much higher.”

“The main agenda of the BJP government at the state and centre is to restrict the students from seeking employment. The government does not want students to achieve higher education and seek employment,” Barman said.

Barman however, urged upon the students’ body of the state to launch a massive movement united against the privatisation of the education sector.
