In a significant step towards modernizing the state’s media landscape, the first meeting of Tripura’s newly formed Media Advisory Committee convened on Thursday at the State Guest House. Chaired by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha, the session brought together senior editors, journalists, and officials from the Department of Information and Culture. Discussions spanned nearly four hours, with an emphasis on updating policies to align with the evolving needs of the media industry, including print, electronic, and digital platforms.

Journalists highlighted the need to revisit current media categorization, accreditation processes, and advertisement distribution frameworks. It was suggested that existing policies require substantial revisions to reflect modern demands and better support journalists. To address these needs, the committee agreed to form multiple subcommittees tasked with recommending specific policy amendments, which the government would then implement.

Chief Minister Dr. Saha underscored the importance of a strong partnership between the media and the government to foster the state’s development. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting journalists and enhancing media as part of Tripura’s cultural growth. Dr. Saha also urged journalists to benefit from the CM Jana Arogya Yojna, ensuring accessible healthcare in state hospitals for those in need.

The Chief Minister praised the valuable input from media representatives and expressed hope for continued collaboration, viewing these steps as pivotal in positioning Tripura as a model state for media and cultural excellence.
