The President of the government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has asserted that Spain and India share strong ties and that both countries can collaborate to strengthen them further. He inaugurated the fourth Spain-India Forum in Mumbai today. The forum was themed “Spain-India Partnership amid Geopolitical and Technological Challenges: New Horizons, New Possibilities.” It was jointly organized by the Observer Research Foundation and the Spain India Council Foundation.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the two countries seek more business, greater investment, increased cooperation, and enhanced exchanges. Highlighting the mutual understanding between India and Spain, as well as the strength of their economic and trade relations, Mr. Sánchez expressed the view that the two countries together can lead the way towards a more sustainable future. He also emphasized the importance of focusing on areas such as the protection of civilians and the safeguarding of human rights in an era of increasing geopolitical tensions.

Mr. Sánchez said that the global power center has shifted, with India playing a crucial role in this scenario, and that Spanish policies can be adapted accordingly.
