
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, upon returning from New Delhi this evening convened an emergency review meeting to assess present flood situation in the state. The review meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s War Room at the Tripura Institution for Transformation office in Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Lane. It is to be mentioned here that heavy rainfall over the past two days has led to flooding in various Districts of the state. During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of active participation by all concerned in dealing with the flood situation, stating that this is a challenging time for the people of the state.
He stressed the necessity of proactive involvement from officials across different Departments along with all others involved in dealing the flood situation. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Director General of Police
Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary of the Revenue Department Brijesh Pandey, Secretary of the Health Department Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Public Works Department Abhishek Singh, Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. P. K. Chakravarty, along with other Secretaries and highly placed officials from various Departments. The attending officers provided the Chief Minister with all relevant information related to the flood situation.
In the review meeting, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha enquired about the details of the flood situation from the officers. He emphasized the need for a concerted effort from all concerned. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha stated that residents in flood-prone areas should be evacuated on an urgent basis. He stressed the importance of ensuring adequate supply of food and medicine for those taking shelter in relief camps. He directed that in areas where residents are being rescued by boat, sufficient number of boats must be ensured. Adequate care should be taken to ensure the seamless evacuation of residents by boats. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha also emphasized the importance of the safety and security of the personnel involved in the
evacuation process. He instructed that once the flood situation subsides, normalcy to be restored as quickly as possible, with ensuring proper cleaning arrangements. The Chief Minister has also instructed for an early assessment of the damages caused due to flood. During the review meeting, the Secretary of the Revenue Department presented the latest flood situation to the Chief Minister, informing him that, according to the latest information, eight people have lost their lives due to the flood.
