A Mumbai Police constable deployed for security duty outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence died after suddenly falling ill and collapsing while on duty. The 41-year-old policeman, identified as Ganesh, was stationed outside the actor’s Bandra residence as part of the security arrangements around the high-profile star.
According to a senior Mumbai Police official, the constable suddenly became unwell while performing his duty. Other police personnel present at the location immediately rushed to his aid and took him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead. Police officials said that the constable died of a heart attack.
The incident occurred amid heightened security around Salman Khan due to threats linked to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The actor has been under increased security protection following repeated threats allegedly connected to the black buck hunting case from the 1990s.
Salman Khan has previously spoken publicly about the difficulties associated with moving around under heavy security. During an interaction with the media at a five-star property in Mumbai’s Bandra area last year, the actor acknowledged that having a large security team around him can sometimes make his movements challenging.
At the same time, Salman said that he was not afraid of the threats and expressed his faith in God regarding his safety and future. Speaking about the situation, the actor said, “Bhagwan, Allah sab unpar hai. Jitni umar likhi hai, utni likhi hai. Bas yahi hai.” He also acknowledged that travelling with numerous security personnel can sometimes become a problem.
Security around the actor has remained a major concern following repeated threats allegedly issued by Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi came into national prominence following the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala. He has reportedly made threats against Salman Khan over the actor’s alleged involvement in the black buck hunting incident during the filming of the 1998 movie Hum Saath – Saath Hain.
The threats escalated significantly in 2024 when two men riding a motorcycle allegedly opened fire outside Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The incident prompted authorities to further strengthen the actor’s security arrangements.
Investigators later reportedly concluded that the shooting was intended to intimidate Salman Khan and had allegedly been carried out on the instructions of Lawrence Bishnoi.

The death of the police constable has now drawn attention to the demanding responsibilities undertaken by personnel assigned to protect high-profile individuals. While the constable was deployed as part of Salman Khan’s security detail, police have attributed his death to a heart attack.
The incident has also highlighted the challenges faced by police personnel who remain stationed for extended periods while performing security duties. Further details regarding the constable’s medical history and the circumstances surrounding his sudden collapse were not immediately available.
