Amra Bangali has strongly condemned the recent violence in Ganda Twisa (Gandacherra) in Dhalai district, expressing concerns over the safety of Bengalis in the TTAADC areas of Tripura. The party’s state general secretary, Gouranga Rudra Pal, demanded immediate government intervention and presented a four-point charter of demands during a press briefing on Saturday.

Pal emphasized the urgency of arresting those responsible for the violence and called for compensation for the affected Bengali families of Ganda Twisa. He explained that the unrest erupted following the death of a Reang community youth in a hospital after a clash at a village event. In retaliation, mobs of tribal youths allegedly targeted Bengali families in Gandacherra on Friday, setting shops and business establishments on fire. The situation escalated, forcing many Bengali families to flee their homes.

“We condemn such incidents of violence, where the families belonging to the Bengali community are targeted in the ADC areas of the state,” Pal stated. He criticized the BJP government for its handling of the situation, contrasting the government’s introduction of a Rs 600 crore package for Reang refugees from Mizoram with what he described as the neglect of Bengali families rendered homeless by the attacks in Tripura.

Pal argued that Bengalis have never felt safe in Tripura and are being deprived of their rights to live securely in the state. He urged the government to take decisive action to protect Bengali families and address their grievances.
