Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha urged people to come forward for blood donation, calling it a unique commitment to humanity while inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by Ward No. 20 of Agartala Municipal Corporation at Smriti Club.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha called upon people to come forward and participate in humanitarian activities such as blood donation, describing the voluntary contribution of blood as a unique commitment to humanity. He made the appeal while inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by Ward No. 20 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation at the Smriti Club premises.
The Chief Minister said that blood donation is not only a social responsibility but also an important humanitarian service that can help save the lives of critically ill patients. He stressed that more people should come forward to donate blood in the interest of humanity and contribute to strengthening a culture of empathy, responsibility and service in society.
Dr. Saha congratulated the organisers of the blood donation camp and extended his heartfelt appreciation to all voluntary blood donors who participated in the initiative. He said such activities demonstrate the importance of collective responsibility and encourage citizens to work for the welfare of others.
Highlighting the universal nature of blood donation, the Chief Minister said that blood has no religion or caste. According to him, a blood donor can help save a person’s life irrespective of their social, religious or economic background. He urged citizens to understand the value of blood donation and participate in such humanitarian initiatives whenever possible.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the role being played by municipal wards beyond their regular civic responsibilities. He noted that wards are not only responsible for providing civic services but are also increasingly undertaking social and community-oriented activities. Such initiatives, he said, help strengthen bonds among residents and promote a greater sense of social responsibility.
During his address, Dr. Saha also spoke about various development initiatives being undertaken by the Central and State governments under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the governments are working sincerely for the welfare and development of the people.
Referring to civic infrastructure in Agartala, the Chief Minister said several pumps have been installed across the city to deal with waterlogging and drainage-related problems during heavy rainfall. He added that more pumps would be installed as required. Efforts are also being made to explore the use of technology to make water drainage operations faster and more efficient.
According to the Chief Minister, the improved drainage arrangements have helped clear accumulated rainwater in the city within approximately an hour in several situations. He said continued efforts would be made to improve the system further and provide better civic services to residents of Agartala.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder and Chairman of the Corporation’s Central Zone Ratna Dutta. Other representatives and distinguished guests were also present at the programme.
Following the blood donation camp, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha formally launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The campaign promotes the spirit of patriotism and encourages citizens to participate in Independence Day-related activities.

During his visit to Smriti Club, the Chief Minister also unveiled the theme for this year’s Durga Puja. The programmes added further significance to the event, combining humanitarian service, civic engagement, patriotic participation and cultural activities.
The blood donation camp highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and community participation, with the Chief Minister reiterating that humanitarian initiatives can play a significant role in building a compassionate and responsible society.
