BJP MP and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb declared on Tuesday that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) would not remain in power indefinitely in West Bengal. His comments came during his visit as part of a four-member central fact-finding team of the BJP, investigating the post-poll violence in the state.

“If anyone believes that the Trinamool Congress will continue to rule West Bengal forever, they are mistaken,” Deb stated emphatically. He further remarked, “I want to tell Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that this is not the way to run a state. If you think that Trinamool rule will not end in West Bengal, you are mistaken. The same was said about the previous Left Front regime.”

The fact-finding team, which included former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, ex-Uttar Pradesh DGP and BJP Rajya Sabha member Brij Lal, and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kavita Patidar, toured Diamond Harbour and Baruipur. They engaged with BJP workers affected by the post-poll violence that has plagued various parts of the state.

In an unexpected turn of events, the fact-finding team encountered protests from BJP workers in Diamond Harbour. The protestors alleged that the district leadership had neglected the plight of party cadres who were rendered homeless following the Lok Sabha polls on June 4. The fact-finding team assured the disgruntled workers that their grievances would be addressed by the party leadership.
