During the electoral process in the Barabill area of Tripura’s Khowai district, around 15 voters, including women, sustained injuries when a swarm of bees descended upon the electorate queuing to cast their votes on Friday.

Election officials swiftly coordinated with Fire and Emergency Service personnel, who promptly arrived at the scene. Affected voters were promptly transferred to the Khowai district hospital for urgent medical attention. Following treatment, they were safely discharged to their residences.

The unexpected bee attacks incited panic among the voters, prompting a scattered retreat from the queue.

In a bid to prevent further disruptions, Fire and Emergency Service personnel took decisive action by eliminating the beehive located near the polling station, housed within a government building.

The voting process resumed seamlessly at the polling station in Khowai assembly constituency under the Tripura East parliamentary constituency, where balloting commenced at 7 a.m.
