This trade portal is a first of its kind to facilitate the business fraternity of India and Bangladesh. It’s a trade portal wherein Database of Exporters and Importers of both NE India and Bangladesh is uploaded, would enable B2B collaboration between Buyers and Sellers of both Counterparts and also allow business dealings and negotiations among the two sides. This is a step ahead activity between the two geographies in order to enable smooth conduct of business transactions between the two regions.

Indian Chamber of Commerce along with Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Guwahati organised the “Launching of India Bangladesh Trade Portal” at Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Guwahati Office on Wednesday at 12 Noon.

The event was attended by prominent Exporters of Assam along with dignitaries from Reputed Govt institutions like NSIC.

Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Asst. High Commissioner, Bangladesh High Commission, Guwahati in his Welcome address mentioned that North-East India is the Scotland of India in terms of natural beauty and Natural resources. It is also the hub of unique products of the World, he said. He mentioned that India Bangladesh Bilateral trade statistics amounts to 10 billion dollars per annum, but North-East India contributes only 1 percent of this trade statistics which includes traditional items like Coal, Vegetables, Limestone, Tea etc. the Asst High Commissioner iterated. He highlighted regarding the potential of other items like Handloom and Handicrafts and Muga silk. He highlighted to the august gathering gathered at the program that the ‘India Bangladesh Trade portal’ is launched for the first time in association with Indian Chamber of Commerce which would subsequently be maintained and upgraded by ICC for the development of Trade between Business to Business entities. The portal would contain details of products, buyer Seller details include contact details and enable business transactions between the two portals through proper utilisation of the portal. This portal would go a long way in bridging the gap of business information to the Exporters and Importers of both the Countries.

 

Ishantor Sobhapandit, Regional Director, Indian Chamber of Commerce highlighted that this is the first and one and only Website/Mobile application which would give a unique experience of business dealings to the Exporters and Importers of both the countries. Sobhapandit iterated about the use of the Chittagong port for business transactions between the two countries while utilising the advantages of the India Bangladesh Trade portal.

 

Prominent players of Import and Export of Assam such as Amaresh Roy, Rakesh Mazumdar, Mr Surendra Chokhani, Ranjit Baruah and others expressed their gratitude to Indian Chamber of Commerce and Asst High Commissioner, Bangladesh for undertaking this advantageous initiative in order to promote Trade between North-East India and Bangladesh.

Vijay Prakash, Senior Zonal Manager and Brach Head, National Small Industries Corporation(NSIC) lauded the efforts of Asst High Commissioner, Bangladesh and Indian Chamber of Commerce and offered his utmost support in order to promote the website/application and include the MSME vendors of NSIC into the operations of the Portal.

The program concluded with a presentation by Gaurav Medhi and Drishti Medhi of the Start-up Quick Guwahati under Assam Start-up regarding the publicity efforts undertaken in the Social in regards to the promotion of the India Bangladesh Trade portal.
