Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb came down heavily on Congress for hatching conspiracy to threaten Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life in the Punjab recently.

The Chief Minister who held a press conference in the civil secretariat on Wednesday also alleged that the blockade on the Prime Minister’s scheduled by road travel had been well planned and well-orchestrated move by the ruling Congress in the Punjab. He also took a dig at Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for her ‘drama’ in regard to the incident.

“While her own party in Punjab was conspiring to threaten the Prime Minister’s life, she was telling the incident was not acceptable. It was all drama”, Deb said adding that in this well prepared plan Congress leaders from top to bottom were involved.

The Chief Minister dwelt in details as to how the Punjab government failed to accord proper welcome to  the Prime Minister of India and also how its officials remained evasive as the Prime Minister’s cavalcade took the road route. He also referred to the recent news item of a news media that sought to expose the conspiracy against the Prime Minister.

“This is , however, not new. There were several plots against him even since the days of his Chief Ministership in Guajarat”, Deb added.

The Chief Minister on another note also assured that all facilities were put in place to combat the emerging Covid surge and said all necessary steps would be taken to close all festivals and gatherings as per the Covid restrictions protocols.
