Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced on Monday that the state government has submitted a proposal to the Central Government, requesting the inclusion of four additional roads in the state as National Highways.

During the second day of the budget session in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Dr. Saha said that the state currently boasts six national highways, with a total length of 923.31 km. 

As the Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) for the state, Dr. Saha stated, “A proposal has been sent to the Central Government to designate four more roads in the state as National Highways.”

The Chief Minister identified the four roads proposed for inclusion as National Highways: Kamalpur-Santirbazar (NH-8) via Ambassa, Gandacherra, Amarpur (NH-208) with a length of 148 km, Champaknagar (Jirania) to Udaipur via Khumulwng (NH-8) and Jampuijala (with a length of 40 km), Amarpur to Udaipur (with a length of 24 km), and Shantirbazar to Belonia (with a length of 17.25 km). These roads have been declared as National Highways in principle.

Dr. Saha further informed that the state currently has 21 state highways, totaling 1057.45 km in length.
