For some unexplained reasons Panchayat authorities were holding back MNREGA job cards of the beneficiaries of Baishyamani Para VC under Ampi Nagar RD block for the last four years, alleged the villagers.,

According to the beneficiaries, the Panchayat authority does not hand over REGA Job cards to the respective beneficiaries for reasons best known to the authority. This practice of withholding job cards is going on for the last 4 years, beneficiaries alleged.

“We have appealed to the Panchayat Office several times during the last few years to hand over the job cards – however, all our pleas fell in a deaf ear. We are unable to check our man-days and related things”, villagers said.

As per the rule, the beneficiary should possess the job card but contrary to this, Baishyamani Para panchayat authority is not following the rule, villagers alleged. They also suspected the Panchayat Authority might have been involved in the misappropriation of MGNREGA wages.

The aggrieved villagers recently appealed to the panchayat secretary to hand over their job cards. However, the secretary told the villagers that the matter of handing over the Job cards depends on GRS.

The response from the Panchayat secretary sparked serious resentment among the villagers and demanded the intervention of the higher authority of the concerned department. The villagers also demanded legal action against those involved in the illegal activities in the panchayat management.
