Tripura, alongside the nation, commemorated the 75th Republic Day with fervour and zeal, with the main celebration taking place at Agartala Assam Rifles’ Ground. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nally hoisted the tricolor, applauding the Tripura government’s concerted efforts towards the holistic development of the state.

Addressing the citizens, Governor Nally underscored the government’s focus on planned agricultural development, aimed at doubling farmers’ income. He highlighted achievements, stating, “An impressive sum of Rs 640 crore has been disbursed to 2,46,339 farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, while 12.76 lakh farmers have been insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.”

Acknowledging Tripura’s prominence in natural rubber production, Governor Nally noted its potential for expansion, along with the burgeoning bamboo industry. He stated, “The Queen Pineapple of Tripura is now being exported to markets like Dubai and Qatar. Additionally, products like Jackfruit, Chalta, Tamarind, and Ginger find their way to Bangladesh, the UK, Germany, and Dubai, amounting to 12,555 MT till FY 2023–24.”

The Governor also lauded efforts to boost tourism, citing diversified attractions ranging from archaeological sites to adventure tourism spots. Initiatives like the ‘Swadesh Darshan’ project and the development of infrastructure at key tourist sites were highlighted as significant contributors to employment generation and enhanced visitor experiences.

Additionally, Governor Nally highlighted the successful permanent settlement of Bru migrants from Mizoram, signalling a resolution to a longstanding humanitarian issue. He urged citizens to unite against drug peddlers and eliminate the scourge of drugs from the state. Similarly, he emphasized the need to combat social evils like child marriages and divisive forces threatening communal harmony.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, and Director General of State Police Amitabh Ranjan, along with senior officers from both the central and state governments, graced the occasion, reaffirming their commitment to Tripura’s progress and prosperity.

The Republic Day celebration served as a platform to showcase Tripura’s strides towards development, resilience, and unity, marking a promising trajectory for the state’s future endeavours. The Governor received guards of honour from the BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles, TSR, Women TSR Platoon, Tripura Police, Traffic Police, Forest Guard forces, NCC, and NSS cadets.

Inspector of Police Debabrata Pal received the President’s Police Medal. Besides, Deputy SP (Traffic) Deepak Kumar Sarkar, Inspector of Police Rana Chatterjee, Sub Inspector Pintu Majumdar, Subedar Kaustab Bhattacharya, Naik Subedar Abdul Sahid, and Havildar Binanda Jamatia received police medals.
