In a narrow escape, 32 students and eight employees of NIT-Agartala narrowly escaped a tragic bus accident. The incident occurred at Chakbasta area under Ranirbazar police station when their bus, bearing registration TR01B 1385, veered off the road and landed in a roadside pond around 9:20 a.m.

Despite the terrifying mishap, only five students and two staff members sustained minor injuries, were promptly treated at GB Hospital, and are now reported to be in stable condition.

The mishap unfolded when the bus, en route to the college, encountered sudden technical glitches while manoeuvring past an autorickshaw. The vehicle veered off the road and was submerged in the pond. Swift action from fire service personnel and locals ensured the rapid rescue of trapped students and staff.

Among the injured were identified as Eika Majumder, Tamana Das Talukdar, Snigdha Deb, Dipjoty Sarkar, Prankrishna Das (students), Sankar Das (driver), and Abhishek Singha (helper). Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, expressing concern, immediately took to social media, instructing local authorities to extend support to the injured. Dr. Prasun Chakraborty, NIT professor, confirmed four transfers to G.B. Pant Hospital.
