On November 25 when the 20 Urban local bodies will go to polls, notice one thing – the queue of the female voters you will find longer than that of the male voters- at least in 14 civic body elections. That includes Agartala Municipal Corporation too.

Tripura always recorded higher voting percentage traditionally, and women participation in every elections remained spectacular. This time would be no different.In fact, out of all the 5,94,772 voters in 20 Urban Local bodies  the total figure of the female electors are more than the male electors-3,00,777 and 2,93,979 respectively

As per the electorate figures available from the state electoral authorities, in AMC areas there are 1,74,758 female electors while the male  electors are about 300 less– 1,70,467. There are also 14 third gender voters in the AMC areas.

Similarly, in 13 other Urban local bodies female electors outnumbered the male electors. The ULBs are : Panisagar Nagar Panchayat with  2,941 female voters  against 2,849  male voters, Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat with 4,310 female voters against 4,061 male voters nst, Jirania Nagar Panchayat with 4,371 female voters against 4,309 male voters, Sonamura Nagar Panchayat with 4,256 female voters against 4,098 male voters, Amarpur Nagar Panchayat with 4,135 female voters against 4,037 male voters and Sabroom Nagar Panchayat with  2,762 female voters against 2,697 male voters.

Besides, Agartala Municipal Council apart seven municipal councils like Dharmanagar (15,561/ 15,154 ) Kailasaharr (8,886/ 8,195), Kumarghat (5,263 /4,945)  Khowai (7,063 / 6,878 ) , Teliamura (8,102/7,823), Udaipur (13,098 /12,728)  and Belonia (8,250 / 7,885) record higher number of female electors than the male electors.

Ambassa Municipal Council has 5,539 male voters and 5,468 female voters, Ranibazar Municipal Council has 5,709 male voters and 5,659 female voters, Mohanpur Municipal Council has 6,526 male voters against 6,484 female voters. Bishlagrah has 8,219 male against 8,131 voters, Melaghar Municipal Council has 7,059 against 6,647 female voters, Santirbazar Municipal Council 4,801 male against 4,631 female voters.
