The Left Front is likely to announce party candidates for ensuing AMC and other Urban Local Body elections on Wednesday. According to party sources, the list of candidates is  ready and like in preceding years, this time also, CPM will be the first party to announce its candidate list.

“Deaths of CPM State secretary Gautam Das and Left Front Convener Bijan Dhar within a span of almost one month dealt serious blows in the party’s functioning. However, the leader and party supporters have taken this as a challenge and we are determined to put up a good show in the coming AMC Polls as well as in other Urban Local Bodies. It is almost uncertain that the Party will announce the list of candidates on Wednesday”, party sources said.

Meanwhile, CPM held two separate mourning meetings in the memory of Bijan Dhar at Sonamura and Belonia.

At Sonamura, CPM Politburo member and Opposition leader Manik Sarkar attended the meeting along with other local leaders and family members of the departed leader. Notably, Bijan Dhan hailed from Madhuban under Sonamura.

CPM State secretary Jitendra Choudhury attended the condolence meeting held at Belonia today.

In both the condolence meetings, CPM leaders focused on the life and vision of Bijan Dhar, his commitment to the welfare of underprivileged people. He was an amicable person who spent his life practicing the principles of Marxism, CPM leaders said while paying homage to Bijan Dhar. Highlighting his dedication and commitment to the Party and people, leaders urged the left-minded people to be united and work to carry forward the departed leader’s vision.
