As many as 1300 youths now would be inducted in the elite Tripura State Rifles. This is for the first time women personnel would also be recruited in the TSR- which had so far been an all male force. Induction of the women in the highly effective combat force was viewed as an important decision on the part of the state government which would inspire many more to join the TSR in near fiture. The decision ostensibly was taken in the line of other national paramilitary forces.
The new personnel would join the newly formed two India Reserve Battalions.
Tripura police displayed the results in its website, www.tripurapolice.gov.in.
The names of the women candidates also figured in the list, officials said adding this is one of the largest recruitments since the BJP-IPFT government came to power in 2018.
Tripura Police in a notification on Monday wrote, “It is to inform that the list of selected candidates for the post of Riflemen (GD) and Riflemen (Tradesmen) (Male & Female) (Inside & Outside State) towards raising of 02 new TSR Indian Reserve (IR) Battalions is uploaded in Tripura Police website- www.tripurapolice.gov.in. Candidates are hereby advised to visit the Tripura Police website. Offer of appointment is being issued later on.”
