As reported in the tripuranet.com Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced Tripura Policy for Women 2022 and Action Plan”- which envisaged 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs in Tripura. The announcement came on the International Women’s Day.
The announcement was made in the public rally organized at Swami Vivekananda maidan to mark the fourth year of the BJP-IPFT government in the state. He formally also launched Women’s Empowerment Campaign for 2022 and Chief Minister Shramik Kalyan Prakalp for women of the Tripura.
Tripura Government has decided that women will get 33 percent reservation in all State government jobs, women will also get reservation in higher educational institutions, Government of India will also provide 3 percent interest on loans to women seeking admission in institutions of national importance. The State government has reserved 50 percent shops for women in all government markets and shopping complexes being built.
In regards to Tea workers Tripura has 54 tea estates, 21 tea processing factories and about 7,000 households who work in the tea estates out of 75 percent of the those who work are women. The government has brought a scheme to give land for housing to families of the sole proprietor of the land working in the tea gardens, we have also brought a policy to set up tea gardens by giving land on leasehold basis to tea garden cooperatives. It has also been decided to give Priority Household Ration Card to each household on the basis of eligibility.Facilities like housing, health, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, road connectivity will be provided in all colonies of tea garden workers’ at the cost of the state government
The Union Minister also laid the foundation of National Forensic Science University at Anandanagar. He performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the National Forensic University Campus, which is expected to new career opportunities for the youth of the state as students from across the country will come to the state for studies which will further enhance the cultural exchanges
The programme was attended by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Jishnu Devvarma, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik and others- officials and Forensic experts, professors et al.
In the Swami Vivekananda maidain where Shah addressed the rally said, “Today is International Women’s Day and several steps to empower women will be taken. I will inaugurate Mukhymantri Mahila Swashaktikaran Abhiyan in another programme at Anandanagar today”,.
Shah in his speech came down heavily on the previous Communist government and alleged that during the CPM rule there was no sign of development, politics was riddled with violence and administration was controlled by the party cadres. The state was then beleaguered by extremism, infiltration, bandh, tension and corruption.
“But now with double engine government under the leadership of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb the state is on the fast track of overall development and peace”, the Union Minister claimed.
Shah dwelt on various schemes and initiatives like that of Bru Rehabilitation etc under the present government. He also referred to the article 370 .
Shah also asked the people of the state to ensure the return of the BJP to power in next assembly election so that the momentum of development continued with full steam.
He also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Asta Lakshi concept for the Noth East which sought to make the region hub for development, connectivity, infrastructure, sports, investment & organic farming.
