A self-reliant society is capable of building a self-reliant country. Hence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana to make the unemployed youth of the country self-reliant. Urban Development Minister Manoj Kanti Deb said this while inaugurating a 2-day workshop on Mega Loan Disbursement Camps and Self Help Groups Credit Linkage by Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission at Agartala Town Hall yesterday.

At the programme, Urban Development Minister Manoj Kanti Deb said that the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission is working tirelessly to eradicate urban poverty and make unemployed youth self-reliant. The more women earn, the more stable the family and society will be. He said, today the women of the state have earned income by forming self-help groups. Highlighting the statistic, Sri deb said that before 2018 there were 509 Self Help Groups under Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission, now there are 1,694. There were 2 area level federations and now there are 54. One time revolving fund was given to 278 self help groups and at present to 1,675 SHGs. Earlier personal loans were given to 90 people now there are 1130 people. Earlier a total of 9 SHGs received loans now there are 1,278 teams. There are 7 shelters for the homeless. So far, among the street vendors identified, 3,142 people have been given loans of rupees 10,000 each, 272 people have received loan of 20,000 rupees each and 3 people have received loan of 50000 rupees each. He said that currently 16 thousand 940 women are involved in self-help groups in urban areas. Addressing the people as a special guest, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor, Dipak Majumder said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given priority to women empowerment. Women are being given more importance in different schemes undertaken by the central government.
Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Shailesh Kumar Yadav, State Level Bankers Committee Convener Anand Kumar, Self Help Team members Archana Pal, Namita Malik, Moushumi Das and Yashoda Debnath also spoke at the programme. Mission Director of Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission Dr. Vishal Kumar said that the state government has taken initiative to sell the products produced by self-help groups in different markets of the country as well as abroad.
9 crore 82 lakh 34 thousand rupees were given to 753 self-help groups, 2 crore 76 lakh rupees to 172 individuals, 3 crore 67 lakh rupees to 3,405 street vendors under the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi yojana, 26 lakh 10 thousand 900 rupees to 73 self-help groups under PM FME. 521 self-help groups got 52 lakh 10 thousand rupees from revolving fund and 15 self-help groups in area level federation scheme were given loan of 7 lakh 50 thousand rupees from revolving fund. The guests handed over cheques to the members of the self-help group. Accounts and biometric devices were handed over to Bank officials.
