Two Ukrainians- Trishchynsky Volodimir, 39 and Nazarii Vozniuk, 21- who were arrested by GRP in Assam when they were traveling from Agartala to New Delhi were actually ATM hackers and part of a six member gang that operated in Bangladesh. They had been arrested and in jail there. While two were arrested in Badarpur, the whereabouts of the rest four are not known yet.
Trishchynsky Volodimir son of Vitalyi Trishchynsky is resident of Bezdichev, Novo Ivanouska 3, House No 89, Region Zhibomir, Ukraine while address of Nazarii Vozniuk’s son of Nikolay Vozniuk is Berdichev, Lupovo 10, House No 84, Region Zhitomyrskyi , Ukraine. They entered Tripura from Bangladesh and picked up train from Agartala.
Police sources said they were picked up from Agartala-New Delhi (Anand Vihar) Tripura Sundari Express-14619 train on Thursday night 7.30 pm ( Coach no B4).
At present they are lodged in Karimganj police station.
In the meantime sources confirmed that three years ago in June 2019 six Ukrainian ATM fraudsters had been arrested in Bangladesh and were in jail. They were involved in ATM hacking of Dutch Bangla Bank ATM booth located in front of Dhaka’s Khilgaon Taltala Market The duo arrested yesterday were two of the six. They had withdrawn more than BD taka 3 lakh.
They are Denys Vitomskyi, 20, Nazarii Vozniuk, 19, Volodymyr Trishchynskyi, 37, Serheii Ukrainets, 33, Oleg Shevchuk, 46, and Valentyn Sokolovskyi, 37.
They used a new technology to withdraw the cash from the ATM booth. Police are trying to find out the technology they used. They would cut off the connection between ATMs and the main server after making calls from their mobile phones and then withdrew money without leaving a trace.,
Tripura police was not aware of their presence in the state but senior officers on condition of anonymity said, they had evidently entered Tripura from Bangladesh. It is not yet clear whether they had been released from jail or they had escaped. Evidently they entered India illegally. Some Bangladeshi takas and Bangladeshi goods were also recovered from them. None of them had proper passports or other legal documents except driving licence.
Sources from Assam said Assam Police had already contacted Ukrainian embassy in New Delhi to get the details of Chrisinsky Volodimir, 39 and Nazari Voznyuk.
