BJP organizational secretary for the North East region Ajay Jamwal today  chaired a crucial meeting of elected and nominated members of Agartala Municipal Corporation and other civic bodies.

Speaking on the issue, Dr Manik Saha said, “Today we have with us Ajay Jamwal, organizational secretary of North East region to chair the meeting of the newly elected and nominated members of the civic bodies. The party will also facilitate them during the meeting”. On being asked about the main purpose of the meeting, Dr Saha said, “the nature of the meeting is purely organizational. Our leaders will brief them about the objectives of our party and what should be their role while working in the office”.

Meanwhile, party sources said, the issue of by-elections also came up for discussion during the meeting. Jamwal heard all the elected members of the AMC and advised them to prepare a solid pitch for the party in their consecutive wards.

“Wards are the basic constituents from where elections begin. BJP’s stellar victory in the civic polls indicate that the party is strong enough to repeat similar result in the by-elections but we should not sit idle, we have to work even harder to ensure victory”, said a party source.

In a separate press conference, BJP chief spokesman Subrata Chakraborty condemned the cyber frauds in the name of ministers and said that it was a part of deep rooted conspiracy to malign the image of the government. He said, a racket of fraudsters are collecting subscriptions in the name of Atal Bihari Hindu Foundation. “We don’t have any links with such organizations; neither at the national level nor at the state level we have any association with such organization”, he said.
