Union Ministers pay tribute on 40th anniversary of Kanishka Bombing –

Must Read

On the 40th anniversary of the Kanishka bombing today, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar paid homage to those who lost their lives in the attack, terming it one of the worst acts of terrorism. On this day in 1985, Air India Flight 182, en route from Montreal, Canada, to London, and then to New Delhi, exploded mid-air over the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Ireland, as a result of a cowardly act of terror carried out by Canada-based Khalistani terrorists. In this attack, 329 innocent passengers were killed, including Canadian and other foreign nationals, as well as many Indian nationals, including children. Dr. Jaishankar described this attack as a stark reminder of why the world must show zero tolerance toward terrorism and violent extremism.

BJP National President JP Nadda paid floral tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his death anniversary today at the party headquarters in New Delhi. Addressing the media, Mr. Nadda said that BJP workers across the country are organising programs to observe the 72nd death anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Lauding the contributions of Dr. Mookerjee, the BJP National President stated that he was a freedom fighter and social reformer who opposed the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Nadda further said that Dr. Mookerjee died under mysterious circumstances in a Srinagar jail on this day in 1953.
